Yevhen Shcherban (the richest businessman of the 1990s of Ukraїna, politician, assassinated 1996) - was born in the village Kostiantynivka, Krasnokutskiy district, Kharkiv region [1].

Vadym Hetman (financier, "father" of the Ukraїnian hryvnia, politician, assassinated in 1998) - was born in the village of Snityn, Lubny district, Poltava region [2].

Vyacheslav Chornovil (political prisoner in the USSR, publicist, politician, died in a traffic accident under strange circumstances not long before the 1999 presidential election) - was born in the village of Yerki, Katerynopil district, Cherkasy region [3].

Viktor Yuschenko (financier, politician, suffered assassination attempt (poisoning) during the presidential campaign of 2004) - was born in the village Khoruzhivka, Nedryhaylivskyy district, Sumy region [4].

All the above-mentioned people were ethnic Ukraїnians, belonged and belong to the Ukraїnian elite and had consciously patriotic positions during political activities. All of them were born in villages and were natural carriers of the native Ukraїnian mentality prone to democracy and equal rights for members of the society, that is - the European mentality. This mentality is the antithesis of the mentality of the burghers in Ukraїna, which was formed mainly under the influence of the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union. Moreover, due to the forceful introduction of national minorities during the Soviet era and their appointment to administrative positions and informal deterrence from the key positions of the ethnic Ukraїnians business and political elite in the most regional centers and the capital today in a large part consists of the national minorities, and they control the media and many industries and, as a consequence, control many politicians and the public opinion.

Is it worth recalling whose methods were the extermination of Ukraїnian elites and peasants who resisted sovietization? ... Yes, those were the methods of the Soviet NKVD and KGB. The Holodomor [5], Bykivnia [6], Sandarmokh [7], Vinnytsia [8] - there are many more such examples in Ukraїna and abroad, cases and places of mass extermination of people with European mentality - ethnic (including Ukraїnian) elites and peasants. The fact that these methods were transferred to the 1990s is not surprising, but is a logical legacy of the Soviet past.

How long will ethnic Ukraїnians tolerate and forget the abuse of them and their best representatives? This question is still open.

It is also worth mentioning that the current head of the National Research Foundation (NRF) of Ukraїna is Leonid Yatsenko (born in the village Stepanіvka, Yemilchine district, Zhytomyr region), and the new President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraїna is Anatoly Zagorodny (born in the village Velyka Bagachka, Velykobahachanskyi district, Poltava region) .

Decentralization reform which was initiated after Ukraїna signed in 1996 the European Charter of Local Self-Government [9], the active phase of which started in Ukraїna in 2014 [10] and the beginning of the final phase with formation of United Territorial Communities throughout Ukraїna started in 2020 [10], transfers more power and financial resources to the local communities, the development of which is likely to be the key to successful development of Ukraїna, due to the fact that the regions are inhabited mainly by people with the mentality of independent entrepreneurs, which were striped of the resources and opportunities for development for decades by the dominant central "clans".

There is also a need in reform of the entire system of governance in Ukraїna, the imbalances in which, its dependence on the few people who control the media and the centers of decision-making, corruption and excessive bureaucracy suggest that there is a need for drastic changes or a new edition of the basic law - the Constitution of Ukraїna.
