The head of the National Research Fund has been elected. It is Leonid Yatsenko , head of the Department of coherent and quantum optics of the Institute of Physics of the National Academy of Sciences. His election has yet to be approved by the Government of Ukraine.

The admission of documents to the competition for the election of members of the Scientific Committee (SC) of the National Rada for Science and Technology Development continues. Quote from the announcement: "The purpose of the competition is to elect 12 members of the Scientific Committee for a term of 4 years instead of those whose mandate ends on 09.08.2019". 12 members of the SC were elected in 2017 for 4 year period and 12 for 2 year period according to the Law on Scientific and Scientific-Technical activities. It is the last 12 members who should be replaced.

Olexandr (Alexander) Demchenko received the prestigious Gregorio Weber award for his achievements in the theory and application of fluorescence ( Gregorio Weber Award for Excellence in Fluorescence Theory and Applications ) for his continued contribution to the evolution of this field. Developments of Oleksandr Demchenko are currently used in research in biochemistry and cell biology. The award consists of an honorary badge and a symbolic prize of $ 2,000.
