The Scientific Committee of the National Rada for Science and Technology on August 6 approved [1] the executive director of the National Research Fund (NRF) of Ukraine, a biologist, scientist of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Borys Sorochinsky, who was previously selected from among 9 candidates by the NRF Science Rada. This actually completes the formation of the NRF leadership and work will begin on organizing the operations of the fund. The Scientific Committee also had a planned biannual rotation of the part of its members in accordance with relevant legislation.

Medical doctors in Ukraine now have access to English-language versions of international clinical protocols due to an agreement between the Ministry of Health and the Finnish company Duodecim Medical Publications Ltd, which specializes in evidence-based medicine [2]. The most important 100 protocols will become available in Ukrainian language in the near future. Registration is required to use them. In connection with the emergence of access to international clinical protocols, Presidential Adviser Mikhailo Radutsky noted that in his opinion “… genetic differences, in the course of certain or other diseases in representatives of different races, determine the peculiarities of their treatment. Therefore, the protocols should be national only, written in Ukrainian, adapted, approved by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Justice. ”[3]. Minister of Healthcare Ulyana Suprun commented on that saying that the course and treatment of diseases have no national characteristics. From the point of view of modern science Mrs. Suprun's statement is much closer to the truth.

Making order in amber mining in Ukraine requires 20-30 million hryvnias (about 1 mln EUR) of investments for geological study of its deposits and conducting of electronic trading of the certified sites to minimize the corruption component of this process, said the Head of the State Service of Geology and Mineral Resourses of Ukraine Oleg Kyrylyuk [4]. But the main reason for the large activity of illegal extraction of amber is the mass unemployment of the population on the territories of the amber deposits.
