In February agreement was reached between the European Parliament and the European Council on the fact that copyright laws will also be valid for the Internet. Only a brief description of the articles, graphic materials in the GIF format and memes will be allowed to be used for free. This law is mainly intended to put an end to the free use of copyrighted products on the Internet by virtual social networks and news aggregators.

In the United States, a new methodology has been developed to assess the level of understanding by students of core concepts of biology (General Biology-Measuring Achievement and Progression in Science (GenBio-MAPS). The authors of the methodology position it as an instrument for monitoring the process of teaching students and determining the necessary changes in the educational process in teaching the core concepts of biology .The core concepts of biology according to the 2011 report of the NSF (National Science Foundation) and the AAAS (American Association for The Advancement of Science) are as follows: 1-evolution; 2 - structure and function; 3 -information flow, exchange, and storage; 4 - pathways and transformations of energy and matter; 5 - systems.
